NEW: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Crying At The Discotheque

Sophie Ellis-Bextor spent quarantine belting out bangers in her kitchen, which the UK pop star kindly documented on social media for her fans, and she’s now releasing an album called, appropriately enough, Songs From The Kitchen Disco. The lead single is a cover of Alcazar’s 2001 Euro-smash “Crying At The Discotheque,” which heavily sampled Sheila and B. Devotion’s 1979 hit “Spacer.” Sophie puts her own spin on the high-camp classic, making it a prelude of sorts to “Murder On The Dancefloor.” The rest of Songs From The Kitchen Disco is largely comprised of hits including “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love),” “Get Over You,” “Music Gets The Best Of Me,” “Catch You,” “Bittersweet” and “Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer).” The album will be released on CD, vinyl and cassette and is already available to pre-order The new single, taken from Sophie's upcoming Songs From The Kitchen Disco greatest hits, out 13 November 2020.

NEW: Kim Petras Performs "Malibu" on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Guest Host Billy Eichner welcomes Kim Petras for her late-night debut.
Bringing Summer vibes on  Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kim Petras Performs "Malibu"

PETRAS: This would be my debut album, my real debut album. So “Malibu” is the first single off of it and it’s really exciting because the song has been around for a while. I made the demo about three years ago. And it just kept coming back around and people kept asking, “Where’s Malibu?” When we finally finished it, I thought it was one of my best songs ever. I’m really trying to take my time and make a concept album that’s cohesive from start to finish. I think I have a lot of say. This last year was really crazy and changed my life. So, I have lots of new things to talk about.

NEW: Hailee Steinfeld - I Love You's (Official Video)

Hailee Steinfeld's latest music video is here, and it takes the look of "self-isolation" to a whole new level. On Tuesday (March 31), Haiz shared the gorgeous video for "I Love You's," the Annie Lennox-sampling self-love anthem she released just last week. This is the singer's directorial debut — she co-helmed the clip alongside Sarah McColgan — and it showcases her eye for stark but striking imagery.
In the black-and-white clip, Steinfeld commands the spotlight in an array of bold, eye-popping looks; she models everything from a zebra-print bodysuit to a voluminous tulle gown. As she sings about giving herself space to move on from a relationship, we see her throwing punches and essentially breaking herself free from the confines of heartbreak. It all comes to a head in the final scene, when a voice yells "Cut!" and Steinfeld walks away as the set walls break down around her. Freedom, at last.

The song itself was inspired by themes of Emily Dickinson's poems, including death and mortality.

NEW: Melanie Martinez - K-12 (The Film)

Four years after her alt-pop debut LP Cry Baby made her a cult hero, Melanie Martinez has revealed her sophomore record, K-12, which incorporates her persona from her first release, “Cry Baby,” into a story ostensibly about school, but which incorporates far more.

While the project began as a concept album, K-12 quickly evolved to incorporate a full-length feature film of the same name when Martinez drafted began drafting a script in 2017. Nearly two years later, it has come to life as a visual dream world of the 24-year-old’s own making, picking up from where her debut album Cry Baby left off. “My main goal [with the film] was to display school as a condensed version of life and to show the parallels between the two,” Martinez tells Billboard.

Martinez, who revealed in 2017 to Billboard she’d be working on a film to go alongside her sophomore album, has maintained a distinct creative voice throughout her career. Two years following her stint as a contestant on The Voice, the Queens native signed to Atlantic Records and released her debut EP, Dollhouse, whose creepy pop single “Carousel” was memorably featured in the preview for FX miniseries American Horror Story: Freak Show.
