Lady Gaga: Gigantic drop on charts worries Interscope executives

Lady Gaga’s latest single “You and I” (a song that has been accused of being a hybrid of Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" and Queen's "We Will Rock You") has been added for airplay at Chicago’s B96, but has failed to make their Top 20. But that’s not the troubled star’s biggest problem—her once 99 cent deep-discounted album Born This Way takes a mega-fall from number 11 to 18. In general, when compared to other albums, it has sold well. But it has sold far less than Lady Gaga’s previous album and despite Lady Gaga trying to promote the album like crazy, none of the singles have taken off.

Program Director Jared Spelling says that Interscope Records is worried—not only about Lady Gaga’s fall from Grace, but about Christina Aguilera’s comeback with the song “Moves Like Jagger,” which is supposed to make it to number one. As one may recall, Interscope was accused of doing everything they could to destroy Christina Aguilera’s Bionic album with whispering campaigns and journalistic payola. “They hate Christina Aguilera.

Lady Gaga is set to open the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. The performance is said to have a Planet of the Apes meets Gay rights theme and a scene where homosexuals even dance with the apes—this is supposed to represent equality. If Lady Gaga pulls this off, more power to her!
